Sara is one of the Dave the Painting Guy viewers who has been watching for a very long time. A lot of the time I know people only by name, or sometimes less... just their uStream chat room username. For a long time I only knew Sara as JinxArt [her website], until I eventually asked for her first name, since I felt odd saying "Hello, Jinx!" when she would log in.
One day while I was broadcasting, I was poking around some of the uStream broadcast controls, and one of them was for allowing "co-hosting" and would reportedly allow another user with a webcam to show up on my monitor — and therefore the broacast. I asked for volunteers to give it a try, and Sara stepped up. Within a matter of seconds there was Sara's webcam in a small corner of my broadcast window and she was an immediate hit with her big, bright smile and beautiful eyes. Everyone commented on how cute she was.
Over time, I found out she lives and works within a 125 miles or so from my studio and that she and her husband travel to San Diego sometimes, so I gave her an open invitation to come on by next time they are in the neighborhood.
Eventually, Sara and her husband, photographer Shawn Gore, did make a trip down to this area to pick up some large canvases for Sara's art at a company down here that specializes in inexpensive large canvases. On the way back to Los Angeles, they stopped by and we visited, had a glass of wine, and I talked them into letting me snap some photos for an eventual portrait.
In reality, Irene "torontopainter" Rencsi was my first ever co-host, but only for a few fractions of a second, as the video cut in and out like a cinematic broken transmission from solar flairs or something. We barely got a glimpse of her.
