You can pay between $5 and $25 for gessoed panels, only to lose your nerve over screwing it up once you start painting.
Why not make your own for very little money? Most lumber yards will cut panels to size for you from larger sheets, and then you can gesso several at a time with my tried and true methods for getting very smooth panels in minutes and have them ready for painting when you get the inspiration.
